The idea of creating a game...

Introduction

What is this all about? Last week I had the idea to create my first own game and since then it has stayed with me ever since. So I decided to give this idea a chance. I'm going to try to develop my own game using Unity and maybe come up with something good that can be published. This is the first post about my journey to create this game and hopefully, there will be many more to come.

Idea of my first own game

At the beginning of every game, there has to be an idea. For me, I want to create something that I would enjoy playing alone and with friends. So it has to be a multiplayer game with a flexible number of players. I came up with the idea of a 2D single- and multiplayer roguelike dungeon crawler game. I think this offers a great starting point to learn a lot about game development and can be modified and extended in any way. In the next few weeks, I want to get a clear vision of how the game should be designed in more detail and how it should all come together into a fun to play concept.

What will posting look like?

I have decided to write a post every week. I know that sometimes this schedule will result in a very short update but it will keep me engaged in the process of moving forward. Since I'm doing this project on top of my full-time job as a software developer, I may have to skip a week. So this schedule is not set in stone. There may be weeks without an update post. But at least every two weeks there should be an update. I'll also update this post and link all the posts so that you can jump right to the next one.

Wrap-up

With all that being said, I'll see you in the next post, hoping to tell you more about the game concept and idea.
